Fall 2011 Initiative: The Caring Community Cookie Project
If you had 2,500 cookies to share with a deserving group of people who care about your community, who would you give them to and why? Thousands of DoubleTree by Hilton volunteers, along with educators and grade school children from their adopted schools and youth organizations in more than 100 cities around the world have been challenged with that exact question, as part of an educator-approved thematic lesson plan that teaches kids the importance of giving, caring and social responsibility.
From policemen and teachers to the military and the elderly…each student will be encouraged to make a conscious decision to select one group of people they feel could use the warmth and good feelings that can be simply found from our DoubleTree by Hilton chocolate chip cookies. All votes tallied from the class will be an important part of the system wide total that will be shared with print and broadcast media around the world. As a result, more than 250,000 chocolate chip cookie acts of kindness and gratitude are expected to be donated by local DoubleTree by Hilton hotels and distributed to community groups from mid-November to mid-December, based on the individual, caring thoughts of kids.
The Caring Community Cookie Project is just another extension to honor and celebrate the 25th anniversary of our brand’s sweet hospitality icon – the DoubleTree by Hilton chocolate chip cookie.
