We are constantly inspired when visiting our Doubletree hotels, seeing the level of commitment shown toward emerging trends in Food and Beverage and are amazed by those that take their passion to the next level. As the Doubletree brand moves forward with our repositioning, we sought to discover some unique Culinarian’s who were willing to show us what they had in the Doubletree Classic Competition. We asked that the chefs submit their recipes and photos for a chance to win three great prize categories.

Grand Prize: The Grand Prize Winner will receive: one (1) Apple iPad 64 GB with Wi-Fi.
ARV of Grand Prize: $750.

First Prize: The First Prize Winner will receive Wusthof or Henkel Knife Set with case.
ARV of First Prize: $500.

Second Prize: The Second Prize Winner will receive a Canon digital compact camera.
ARV of Second Prize: $350.

As a result we had some great entries and narrowed the field to five finalists:

Chef Bruce Fry-Doubletree Seattle Airport submitted his recipe of Grilled Shrimp Gazpacho Parfait
Chef David Maring-Doubletree Guest Suites Doheny Beach, Dana Point CA. produced a Marinated Grilled Double Cut Pork Chop with Apple Sauce
Chef Jason Demarco-Doubletree Bedford Glen MA did his hotels rendition of Seafood Gumbo spiced with Andoullie Sausage
Chef Roger Maune-Doubletree San Jose showed off his Seared Scallops with Cilantro pesto and sweet corn sauce
Chef Tim Jones-Doubletree Bethesda, MD demonstrated his talents with a Guiness Stout Marinated Grilled Venison with a smoked tomato and corn sauce.

As finalist, each chef was invited to the Hilton Worldwide Headquarters in McLean, VA where they competed to see who would receive top billing as the Grand Prize winner. The chefs prepared each of their dishes and submitted their plates to be judged on Flavor and Presentation by a panel of culinary experts including our very own Celebrity Top Chef Judge, Beth Scott Vice President of Restaurant Concepts. Selecting a clear winner proved to be very difficult as each chefs dish was masterfully prepared and presented with the finalist in the first and second position separated by a half point. A clear winner was finally chosen and was awarded to Chef Tim Jones, taking home the grand prize Apple I-Pad. First Prize went to Chef Roger Maune and Second Prize awarded to Chef David Maring. Each chef is to be congratulated on their efforts as they clearly demonstrated the culinary skills we are seeking to achieve within each and every Doubletree.
